As women we have grown up with the notion that our bodies need to be acceptable – a nagging sense at various life stages that we need to change our shape.
Acceptable to who?
It’s hard not to focus on how we look because it’s everywhere. Idealised bodies are splashed across social media and advertising really aren’t an inclusive representation of all body types.
And let’s face it – many of them are digitally enhanced anyway!
Body positivity, body neutrality, body confidence and body acceptance are all having their zeitgeist moment as we read more and more about ways we can learn to feel comfortable in our own skin.
I believe what we actually need is simply the freedom to enjoy our shape and all of its individual and authentic quirks that make us who we are because, frankly, every body shape is beautiful.
